How To Clean Your Face With A Toothbrush

A toothbrush has always been a must in your daily routine to shine up those pearly whites. But, ladies, did you know the same bristle brush can help you get clearer skin too? (You're probably thinking "A TOOTHBRUSH, really?" But trust us, it does work for every type of skin!) Read on to find out how you can achieve that gorgeous glow without dropping major cash on parlour visits or expensive products!

What you need

  • A toothbrush with soft bristles
  • A mild scrub

And here's what you have to do

Step 1. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and just a bit of face-wash to get rid of the dust and oil that's settled on your skin. Make sure you do this before you begin the procedure, as it could have the opposite effect otherwise (and make the grim stick even more to your skin)!

Step 2. Apply a mild scrub (diluted with some water) all over your face and neck. If you don't have a scrub, you can also substitute it with a cleanser. The result will more or less be the same!

These are some of the scrubs we love

For combination skin: Lotus Herbal Berry Scrub Strawberry Aloe Vera Exfoliating Face Wash

For oily skin: Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub

For dry skin: Himalaya Herbals Gentle Exfoliating Apricot Scrub

Step 3. Find a new, unused toothbrush with soft bristles. It's easier if the toothbrush is electric as it makes the scrubbing MUCH easier. We like the Oral-B Cross-Action Power Medium Toothbrush.

Step 4. Use the bristles to scrub your face in a circular motion. Make sure you scrub the tip of your nose, the sides of your mouth, and the area between your eyebrows and your upper lip. (You can also gently brush your lips to exfoliate and keep them kissable!) Avoid scrubbing too hard and be VERY gentle when it comes to the area under your eyes.

Step 5. Continue to scrub for at least 3 minutes, then wash with cold water. The brushing not only helps get rid off dead skin cells but also serves as a mini face massage! Wipe your face with a damp towel. ALWAYS follow this by applying a light moisturizer.

You may notice your skin turning a tad red, but worry not. It'll be due to the increased blood circulation to your face, and the redness should disappear within 5 minutes.

And voila! Say hello to clearer pores, exfoliated skin and no blackheads! Now that was easy-peasy, wasn't it?!

Repeat this procedure once every three days, and if your skin responds well to it, you can try it more often!
