Cleaning Inside your Maytag Oven Door

Some time in the past (I'yard aback to say how long, so let'southward pretend it was last week), something I was cooking on the stove boiled over and spilled, non but downwards the front of my oven door, but actually within the vents and between the drinking glass. No corporeality of that oven cleaning itself was going to get that mess out.

Plus, when the lord's day streamed through the kitchen during the solar day, it highlighted all the dust that had also accumulated (last week) inside the glass. Something had to be washed earlier showing off my almost spotless kitchen to prospective buyers.

But when I searched online, I couldn't find whatever tutorials that talked nearly how to take autonomously my particular type of oven, nor was in that location annihilation in the Maytag manual. (Maybe they don't want you doing this yourself, just that never stopped me before.)

And so I figured it out myself, and information technology was so surprisingly easy I had to share it with you.

(Forgive me for not having whatsoever "before" pictures and believe me when I say information technology was bad. I was just on such a tear to get that thing pulled apart that I only started taking pictures once I realized that I should preserve the process for posterity.)

Removing the Drinking glass Door:

Apparently some oven doors come in 2 parts. This ane is really all ane role (more than or less), with a large canvass of drinking glass on the front that's held on by a ledge running along the lesser, and the frame of the door on meridian.

When I started unscrewing screws, I got several removed before I realized I didn't need nigh of them. So I put them all dorsum in and got on with the actual productive part. Here information technology is in three piece of cake steps.

one. Open up the oven door slightly, to the point where it naturally rests open up a few inches. Remove the three screws from the peak of the door and set them aside.

2. Slightly elevator the meridian frame section of the door. Information technology won't come off, but it will rock up a lilliputian bit, just enough so it's non belongings the glass from the superlative.

Lift up gently on the top of the oven door frame until it clears the edge of the glass.

(At this point I felt like I was doing information technology wrong and was about to suspension something, then I went back to unscrewing things which didn't help at all. In the finish I realized the top only needed to stone back about a quarter of an inch to clear the glass and permit it to swing out.)

The front panel of glass on the oven door leans out and lifts out of the frame.

3. Gently grasp the drinking glass on each side and pull up from the bottom ledge. The drinking glass may exist difficult to remove because it has a few footling adhesive pads forth the sides. Just work it gently out and set information technology aside on a blanket or the carpet.

Then do the front end of the door that's nevertheless attached to the oven. I likewise dusted all around the inside of the door. There was a lot of gunk built upward in the springs and along the lesser ledge, just that came right off with a paper towel and some Spic and Bridge.

The grit and crud is gone, thanks to several paper towels, a tooth castor, and a chopstick for those hard-to-reach spots.

Replacing the Glass Door:

  2. Elevator up the superlative edge of the door once again, tilt the drinking glass in, and let the summit clamp down over the glass.
  3. Replace the three screws and screw them in squeamish and tight, and you're washed!
